I've never been a huge fan of the Remington Bolt Guns as I lean towards the none rotating Mauser Type Extractor. But, I own a few.
I bought the 700 Classics in 221 Fireball (2002) and 8x57 (2004).
They are really great shooting, well made guns.
The 8x57 was always my Dad's favorite rifle caliber. He went to his death bed believing nothing new followed the introduction of the Mauser 7.9mm.
He refused to acknowledge any case with a belt on it. In his world, they didn't exist.
I've never killed an animal with the 8x57 and that needs to be remedied. Bought a lifetime supply of Hornady 275 grn SST Bullets. Can push them to 2800 fps in the 700.
Gary and WB just made me think of the unsung rounds we have available. The old Mauser Rounds still get the job done.
