in Africa. Too much speed for the bullets that are available. On an early hunt to Africa, in '92, Kase took a Ruger #1 we has chambered in 378 Weatherby. On a Common Reedbuck, maybe a 125 lb animal, the 270 grain bullet blew on impact. It went maybe 2" before coming apart.

He shot a Blue Wildebeest and the shots were good, just behind the shoulder, and it took 9 shots to put it down. All but 2 of the rounds blew up on the hide.

He shot an Impala with the 378 WBY and the same thing. Big nasty hole that was maybe a half inch deep with no penetration. It took a couple more shots to end it.

So the 378 Weatherby is not looked upon well in Africa.
