The thickness on .30-30 necks varies wildly

from brand to brand. Typically you don't have to crimp. Do you crimp your .243 or .270? Neck tension should be plenty enough. BUT, that Lee collet crimper is a great tool. Most of the necks I've measured are 0.008-0.010" thick, each side.

An old Indian trick I like is to use bulky enough powder that the bullet cannot be pushed back into the neck feeding. Usually I like using it on 9mm and such but it can be helpful on rifles too. The .30-30 feeds smoothly in most rifles and it should not be a problem. Suit yourself.
