So go through a setup. Before you call “pull” , mount the gun, point at a corner of the trap house, close your “off side” eye and make sure you are aiming at that corner. Make sure you eye (the rear sight) is centered. If your eye isn’t centered, put more or less pressure, with your cheek to get your eye centered.
Now open both eyes, focus your eyes low in the rectangle where the berd will be. Hold the barrel at about the top of the trap house so as not to block seeing the bird when it comes in to view. Bend your knees slightly and swing with the bird when it launches.
Depending on how much of the rib you see (with gun mounted and one eye closed), is how much daylight you see (if any) between the bird and your bead. If you only see the bead, you will probably have to cover the bird with your barrel, if you see about 8 inches of rib, you’ll have a little daylight between the bird and your bead. If you see the whole rib, you’ll have to hold way under the bird.
When the bird launches, focus HARD on the bird. For starters, i would hold slightly in front of the leading edge. “Shoot’em in the lips”, but it depends on your position, and where the trap is pointed, when you call “pull”. The trap is moving back and forth constantly.
