in the frame. Winchester was experimenting with the steels and one of the experiments ended up with a frame that couldn't be reblued. Almost a pot metal. When we were in Florida we bought as many of them as we could, cleaned them up good, did some engraving and ran them as a limited edition series of Winchesters we called Purple Haze. They turned out a nice plum color. I think we did maybe 25 or so in the series.
