The Mag tube follower might be alloy but that's no biggie. Some late shotguns have plastic! Yuck! Mossberg etc. Plastic follower and safety button. They have aftermarket fixes. The late 870's switched from aluminum trigger guards to plastic. Mossberg has had plastic trigger guards for some time. But combat pistols are 50% plastic too.
Like Gary's old hunting rifle there is a desirable charm to the old solid builds. If a man knows the difference and has the money to please himself, so be it. That's what makes them more valuable.
