they will not work when there are problems with the power distribution and voltage drops. And LEDS can be prone to weird things happening when the circuitry develops Alzheimer's. I have seen them go up in smoke.

Incandescent bulbs will work on low voltage and not burn up. Too high voltage just pops the filament. They won't catch on fire.
