to have squibs or misfires with CCI primers. They are extremely hard and take a heavier hammer fall to be reliable. My opinion only. And I would have to disagree with the comments on compressed loads. Many years ago Lee Jurras, who was a good friend, and who was the man behind Super Vel ammo, and who knew more about magnum handguns than anyone I know of, told me to always have lightly compressed loads in any magnum handgun and always use a magnum primer if you use ball powder like 296,H-110, 1680, #9 among others. Using lightly compressed loads and magnum primers with these powders I don't remember ever having a squib load. And up until this last year or so I would normally shoot 800 to 1000 rounds a week in test firing, mostly magnum loads and my handloads.
