We've been in agreement the whole time. Standard operating procedure for top performance is a full case load of slow pistol powder and a MAGNUM primer.

But....try it just ONCE with a STANDARD primer and you likely will have a squib with the less powerful STANDARD primer. I have gotten away with it with less than full cases of powder but for some reason take that air space away and a STANDARD primer causes squibs. The MAGNUM primer goes boom every time! Use them exclusively with full charges of slow powder. If you do not have any MAGNUM primers then don't use that load until you get some, fair warning!

There are few displeasing feelings as having to use a hammer and hardwood dowel to pummel a stuck bullet from the throat of a revolver you just spent $2000 and the better part of a year collecting. Plus it's YOUR goofy fault!
