And I've seen Denning with ammo and this style of "crimp" on it. An old Handloader Issue showed these fellows in the 60's "making" jacketed .475 bullets for their own use in various British Nitro cartridges. The time and type of fellows were never held back by something being not produced. I loved those old articles.
I've seen guys make wild jacketed bullets from brass fired casings, usually filling with poured lead. The resulting projectile usually has a wadcutter type nose unless special contouring is done in some other swage operation. The nose would be nice to make pointy for feeding or flight to point of impact. I saw these Hornady "Blank Ammunition" making dies. The one set runs from .22 caliber to .45 caliber for just under $100. It could be used to form up bullet jackets filled with poured lead or birdshot like the old COR-BON ammo. Pinch the nose shut like the old .22 RF ratshot and it holds up till impact. That might be cool.
Has anyone used this type of die? FWIW .40 S&W cases are about .429" as .45 ACP is .475" .223 is close to .375 etc.... Just for goofs.
