the chamber when those crimped edges open up. We have seen quite a few 22 rifles where the frontal area of the chamber was gouged and accumulated a lot of lead and it was all from the old crimped 22 shotshells opening with such pressure it gouges the chamber area. I have heard of it doing it to M-16 chambers also, but never actually saw a barrel messed up.
