was a Thompson .45 shooting off the fantail of the ship. The landing party had to qualify on all weapons we were issued once every six months. The M14 in full auto was a hoot.... Couldn't hit shit but the first bullet was always right on.. I got to spend a lot of taxpayer money playing around and ammo was not an issue. We loaded pallets of ammo before deployments and were expected to shoot all of them. That was back in the 60's and 70's when we still had a Navy run by real men instead of the Pussies in charge now. Time outs in boot camp for hurt feelings, what a crock.
