back in '90. No guides. Brought in by float plane. They came back to get us a week later. We brought some freeze dried food with us. I brought 2 guns with me, a custom Ruger #1 in 45-70 and a 3 barreled drilling. I used the drilling with a 16 gauge barrel, a 22 Magnum insert in the other 16 gauge barrel and a 9.3 X 74. I shot a Ptarmigan with the 16 gauge, an Arctic Fox with the 22 magnum and one of my caribou with the 9.3. The other caribou with the Ruger #1. We cut steaks off the first caribou and ate them. We had to skin our own animals, bring the meat back to camp, prepare the skins and do everything else. It was roughing it to an extent but not as rough as Al's hunts.

The "bunk beds" were very rough and flimsy. We slept in sleeping bags. The bunk beds lined three walls for the 6 of us.

When we shot an animal we were required by law to bring all the meat in. The only thing we could leave was the gut pile. I shot a nice double shovel the second day and that fed us for the next several days.

the second day the snow melted and it was easier to get around. The caribou were migrating and were everywhere. At night we could hear them going by the tents. We probably saw 1000 caribou over the 7 days we were there.

They furnished us with 6 waterproof boxes each to bring the meat back and 2 float planes came back the 7th day and picked us up in one plane and our meat and gear in the other.
