good Lord willing we won't, but being ready just in case is a wise move. Operators in a combat situation often are carrying 50 to 60 lbs of gear on their backs along with their weapons, but they have to be ready for whatever happens to come their way.

For us my recommendation is carry a gun or 3 on you along with an extra mag or two and let it go at that. I know you like the Beretta 92 but it is pretty bulky for concealed carry. I know there are guns much better and much more dependable than my Star PD but I have carried it since 1977 so it is part of me. When it comes out of my holster my thumb already has the hammer back. I don't normally carry cocked and locked. Nothing wrong with it but it is not natural to me. Your best bet is pick one or two guns that you are comfortable with and carry it or them. Forget all the others. And don't switch back and forth. Like Irv said, it's all in muscle memory. The only other gun I carry from time to time is a Colt lightweight Commander in 9mm. I do switch from the PD to it from time to time but the functions are the same as the PD so I am not having to re-train myself. Do like you said, keep it simple.

As far as the M-4 with all the useless gimmicks on it, keep that for around the house unless you have a place to stash it in your vehicle where it is quick to get to but not noticeable to thieves. And again on the long gun, keep it simple. I like a short M-4 with a red dot on it and nothing else. I like the type of red dot that has the hood on it that comes on automatically when the hood comes off. Trying to see the little numbers on a red dot in a dark truck at night to get the thing turned on can get you killed. I like to keep an M-4 with a couple of extra mags in my truck but if the shit hits the fan you are probably not going to have the time to search around the truck for the gun and where did I put those extra mags. In that situation that handgun on your hip is your insurance policy and what will probably keep you safe.
