They just didn't import all that many in that caliber. So the demand for ammo is less. You know a good LEE Enfield is as good today as it was 130 yrs. ago. So is a good 30-30.
It's run what you brung. I just put an old .32 Auto in the upper compartment in my new/old Chevy. Available in an instant. It's only a 5-shot but it works, every time. A $200 gun I paid $150 for.
I have seen some bulk .30-06 for sale. I used to have a Remington 742 with a 10-shot mag, baby BAR. A .270 or whatever you got would do nicely too. Heck I have several .38-40's that can haul the mail. How many souls worth of ammo do I need?
If I take a notion to load some up I can play a good while.
