cracking or requiring a new bolt carrier due to battering? On the 1911, there surely have been some battered or cracked lowers, but uncertain has always been spring weight/condition, possible handloads put through gun, etc., double ditto as for modern competitive shooters. I cannot speak for more modern guns with cast lowers, have never owned one, much less put tons of hardball through one. Have never had a hint of battering with a forged lower of proper hardness and unlimited hardball use. Have seen peening of front frame rails a time or two, but that was rails not proper length or slide cuts too short.

But, no harm in trying them if you wish, and swap them at first sign of deterioration if no compromise oherwise in function.
