This cartridge is about equal to the 350 legend in velocity.
However, it is based off of the 30-30 case so it can be used in a lever action.
If one could use any centerfire rifle, neither of these would be high on my list.
I grew up hunting in a part of pennsylvania that required the use of shotgun slugs for deer. For me a 12 gauge slug is no fun to shoot, it kicks on both ends. So I could see why these rounds will be popular in the areas that have cartridge restrictions.
