Serious Questions about entry-level 1911?
Tuesday, May 06, 2025, 11:58

Ok, I have an interest in getting what I would call an entry-level 1911, maybe even mil-spec level model. I do have higher-end 1911s, so I am not unfamiliar with the platform. But if I were to say, want a 1911 "truck gun," what would you pick and why? Tisas? Rock Island? Bul? Springfield Armory? Girsan? IMO, the 1911 market has been flooded with decent foreign imports, but the prices are getting higher for these entry-level pieces. I guess that's demand, or tariffs. At any rate, what to avoid? The Turkish guns appear to be good, I' am not so sure about the Philippine models. IMO RIA is over-priced, but that's just me. I'd put my budget at <$600. So, tell me what you think and why? This is intended to be a truck-range-beater-gun, not anyhing more. Am curious to hear your opinons. TIA.
