Drastically thicker on the 44 Magnum. My Colt New Frontier has .431" throats and chambers 44-40s loaded with that size bullets. Also have the Uberti Flattop Target 44-40 with .430" throats. I load ammo separately for the best accuracy. The Uberti generally makes one quarter sized hole at 25 yards.

I may load a dummy round for Gary to check out one day. He could easily make an auxiliary cylinder. As long as throats are at least .001" larger than the bore, I'll be happy.
