since I was issued a Colt .45 in 1965. I always used 230 grain ball ammo and NEVER had a jam or misfeed at any time. In my current iteration of .45's I have tried the gold dot, golden saber and hydrashok 230 grain bullets and have had probems with failure to feed or stack jams and gouging of the ramps. I have gone back to the hardball and really prefer it as I no longer have problems with feeding or ramp cutting. My springs are all factory and triggers are as set at the factory. Guns are Kimber CDPII in 5 and 3 inch models, a Springfield GI model that Kase fixed up for me, a Sig P220 and a Glock 21. I like them all for various reasons, but the 1911 5 inch barrel is what I keep loaded beside my bed at night for things that go bump in the night, along side my winchester pump 1300 12 ga. I have a friend that has a cold Gold Cup Match pistol that he let me coon finger for a while. I couldn''t talk him out of a trade but they really are nice guns.
