Some of those Gold Cups are getting into Python territory on prices these days. You made a great investment.

It will indeed shoot ball ammo, just don't try to shot thousands through it in combat shooting competition. Like GNR said it was set up as a bullseye gun. You can make sure it has a fresh 17-18# recoil spring in it and maybe a shok-buff to soften any hit. Make sure the rear sight through pin does not drift out. If it does you can pull it out a little, and bend the tip, drive back in.

I remember guys hunted with them too. Taking Mountain Lion and Black Bear I remember the articles. My Govt. model was doing good to shoot 4" groups at 25 yds. and the Gold Cup would make a ragged hole. That fact started many custom gunsmiths on their way.
