Strause a few minutes ago about this. We have 70 different wildcat calibers to choose from. It is hard to say one is better than another, but I do have my favorites. These are not necessarily the best, just ones that I have used a lot since day one.
In my G-2 the 41 GNR has been my favorite for years, first on the Contender and then on the G-2. Many large animals taken with it. My second favorite cartridge for the G2 is the 356 GNR. I have taken big critters like Bison and Nilgai with it.
In the Encore my 416 GNR and 450 GNR are tops of the list. The 450 GNR has taken a lot of big and dangerous game for me, like my Cape Buffalo and a few more like that. The 416 is a favorite as it has the punch of the 450 but with the 350 grain pointed bullet it is good for longer ranges.
In a revolver my 429 GNR is my go to cartridge. I have carried it all over the world and it has never let me down. My 410 GNR would be a close second in popularity in a revolver. Took an African Savannah buffalo with it years ago, one shot.
There are a lot of others that are just as good but those are the ones I pack when I am going hunting.
